The Société des Amis du Musée National de Céramique, founded in 1930 and formerly recognized as a public-utility association on 20 November 1967, seeks to favour the influence, prestige and further development of Sèvres’ unique heritage.
The association’s main mission is contributing to the study and dissemination of knowledge on ceramic techniques and the ceramic arts, as well as the role played by ceramics within the history of art, notably by drawing from the collections of the Sèvres National Museum and Manufactory.
As a partner of Sèvres, the association has established ties with diverse international bodies and stakeholders within the world of ceramics. It organizes conferences and classes on ceramics, exhibition visits and study trips both within France and abroad, while benefitting from the expertise of the domain’s leading specialists.
The Société des Amis meets monthly, according to a cycle of conferences followed by a convivial cocktail-reception in the company of the guest speaker.
It also joins forces with other organizations to host or participate in various events, activities and colloquiums.
Since 1992, the association has published its Revue Sèvres: abundantly illustrated in colour, this French-language, world-renowned review is dedicated to the ceramic arts. Thanks to donations and gifts, it contributes to the further enrichment of Sèvres’ collections.
From 1988 to 2015, the Société des Amis du Musée was presided over by Antoine d’Albis, former head of the Manufacture de Sèvres laboratory. Since 1 January 2016, Cécile Dupont-Logié, honorary head curator, has served as president.
